Driving growth and thought leadership with data, storytelling, and brand journalism.

Care To Vote 2020

Drawing on my background in politics, policy, and brand journalism, I created and led Care.com’s first Get Out the Vote task force, marshalling resources in marketing, product, finance, legal, and content to drive awareness for employees and members, provide access to voter registration tools, partner with non-partisan organizations, craft internal policies, and launch free and subsidized child-care offerings to help parents and caregivers get to the polls in November.

Data Journalism: Cost of Care

In a newly-created position for Care.com, I created and led a data-driven journalism team whose research has been cited by Buzzfeed, Slate, Washington Post, Cosmopolitan, and House Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Our keystone editorial efforts included annual research on the Cost of Care, Child Care Deserts, and Senior Care jobs growth.

Thought leadership: Aspen Spotlight Health.

Working at the intersection of press, public policy, and partnerships, I led a small team dedicated to driving awareness of Care.com’s commitment to social justice and systemic change. Moving beyond data and reporting, we crafted integrated programs for our executive leadership that included bylines in major media, appearances at international conferences, social media campaigns, and crisis mitigation. This campaign, developed for Aspen Spotlight Health in 2017, worked with caregivers to bring awareness to the value of caregiving in both emotional and macro-economic terms. Long before COVID-19, it helped to popularize the idea of care as a component of national infrastrcuture.

Care.com is the world’s largest marketplace for family care, with over 9 million members in more than 20 countries. It was publicly traded until being acquired by IAC in early 2020.
