Boston Globe, June 2016This story begins and ends with a photo. It’s Igor Stravinsky, the legendary modernist composer. He looks a little worse for wear. In fact, the photo looks like a mug shot. The date on the Boston police placard around his neck appears to be April 15, 1940. Rumor has it that he was arrested for playing a weird version of the Star-Spangled Banner. That’s not exactly what happened — but the real story is even stranger.
